TAKE ACTION

YOU CAN HELP GIVE TEENS A  VOICE IN GOVERNMENT.

Here's what you can do to advocate for lowering the voting age and automatic voter registration:

1. Start a Teen Vote club at your school or in your area. Engaging young supporters is vital to building your network and persuading others.

2. Spread the word! You can start by reading Vote16USA's talking points, and distributing information at your school. If possible, you can contact your local media. This can help publicize the issue, and mobilize more students in the area.

3. Research your city council members, and find one who could be sympathetic to the cause. You can arrange a meeting to discuss the possibility of introducing a charter amendment. Once a charter amendment is proposed, council members must vote to place it on the ballot.

4. If it reaches the ballot, you have made tremendous progress! In order for a charter amendment to become law, more than 50% of people must vote to approve it. Once you have gained student support, you can campaign for public support by distributing the Teen Vote flyer or posting signs.
